Name:
Jack Getze

Where do you write? Can you write when traveling?
I write in an office one mile from my house. I can and do write while traveling. I try to do something on my latest novel--make progress--every day of my life.

Can you work with music or the tv on?

No TV, but I often have the radio on. Depends on my mood. I like smooth jazz or classical music to write by, however, no vocals.

What are the five things you must have when you’re working?

My computer or a notepad and pencil, plus peace and quiet are really just about all I need. I guess I have to have a bathroom nearby.

What’s the strangest place you’ve ever been when struck by a flash of inspiration and started scribbling notes down for a story idea?

In a curio shop once, I found an image of a Hopi kachina with black horns and an alligator mouth that just fascinated me. I bought it, and immediately sat down at bench outside and wrote four or five lines about a man dressing up like this kachina to further his cause.
