Name: Allan Guthrie
Where do you write? Can you write when traveling?
I write in my study. I find it pretty hard to write when travelling. I always have the best intentions, but in reality it’s only if I’m away in one place for a few days that I tend to get any meaningful writing done.
Can you work with music or the tv on?
My concentration’s so poor I need complete silence, unfortunately. I wish it were otherwise.
What are the five things you must have when you’re working?
Apart from silence, I only need three things: a comfortable seat, my laptop and my stopwatch.
What’s the strangest place you’ve ever been when struck by a flash of inspiration and started scribbling notes down for a story idea?
I’m pretty good at holding ideas in my head, so, boringly, I tend to scribble notes down in dull and appropriate environments after the ideas have gestated a little.
